The name Sabor means "flavour" - and the focus here is firmly on great taste combinations, some classic, some ingeniously new. The "Nuevo Latino" menu takes in elements of Argentinian, Peruvian and Colombian styles, while carefully chosen wines and cocktails are mostly loyal to Sabor's Latin leanings.

Wild horses wouldn't have dragged me from the traditional lamb empanadas. My girlfriend went for the seafood ceviche... the Peruvian cornbread... was a revelation. A most welcoming and accomplished new restaurant.

The menu offers a melange of South America specialities. Ambitious in not only having dishes from several countries but also combining classic cuisine with 'Nuevo Latino'. Sabor makes Essex Road proud and if more restaurants like this were to settle here it would become just as well known as its neighbouring Upper Street.
